The debate between Flutter and React Native has run since Flutter's stable launch in 2018. In 2026, both frameworks are mature, battle-tested, and capable of building world-class apps. Here's our honest assessment from building apps on both platforms.
Flutter compiles to native ARM code and uses its own rendering engine (Impeller), giving it consistent, near-native performance. React Native's new architecture (JSI and Fabric) has closed much of the gap, but for animation-heavy or computation-intensive apps, Flutter still wins.
Flutter's hot reload is fast. Dart is a clean, strongly-typed language with excellent tooling. React Native benefits from JavaScript's massive ecosystem and is easier to hire for. If your team knows JS, React Native has a gentler learning curve.
React Native's npm ecosystem is vast. Flutter's pub.dev has grown rapidly and now has packages for almost everything. For most use cases, both have adequate library support.
Choose Flutter when performance is critical, you have complex UI animations, or you're targeting desktop/web too. Choose React Native when your team knows JavaScript or you need deep integration with an existing React web codebase.
At Last Stop Solutions, we default to Flutter for new projects. Want to discuss your mobile app? Let's talk.
